World Refugee Day 2017- Chicago

Events

This month we start the celebration of World Refugee Day - Chicago. This is an opportunity to celebrate the gifts refugees bring to our country and out city, all the while a greater opportunity to advocate for and with them.

World Refugee Day - Chicago will be celebrated in two ways this year. First, on June 22 at noon there will be a lunch-time concert in Daley Plaza with performances from artists that make up the vibrant refugee community. Second, on July 8 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, there will be an all-day celebration at Foster Beach. This includes a soccer tournament, the "One Human Family" Rally and March, and a youth area.

Action

World Refugee Day can offer an opportunity for people and communities to advocate and educate for and with refugees. The USCCB produced this toolkit to offer suggestions on ways to honor the refugees in our communities, and to ensure our country stays open to them.
